Event Descriptions

In-Person Campus Visits

These visits provide on-campus and in-person opportunities to meet with a representative from the Graduate Institute, take a campus tour, and sit in on 1-2 classes to see the classroom in action. Explore the calendar widget above to find a day that works for you. Note: There will be no on-campus class observations for the Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Classics program during the 25-26 academic year. If you are interested in this program and would like to discuss in person, please register for an Eastern Classics Program campus visit or contact Raven Malliett directly.

Virtual Class Observations

Virtual observations are a great way to learn more about St. John's pedagogy and how discussions unfold in a virtual environment. These are class observations only and we recommend scheduling a 1:1 conversation with an Associate Director if you have additional questions. Observations are available for the Liberal Arts program in both Eastern and Mountain time. Eastern Classics observations are only available in Mountain Time. Check out the class offerings by searching through the calendar widget at the top of the page. The option to speak with current students or faculty is available upon request.

Teacher's Institute

The St. John’s College Teachers Institute provides a convenient way for educators to continue to learn and grow. Every year, our Teachers Institute provides opportunities for educators to read great books, experience the collaborative discussion-based learning at St. John’s, and exchange ideas with a network of educators who value the life of the mind as much as you. Learn more here or explore the calendar widget above.

Open Houses & Information Sessions

These online events provide a great opportunity to meet with Graduate Institute staff and faculty to learn more about the programs, application process, and experience as a graduate student enrolled in the college. Each event is different, with some focusing on a single program, while others tackle more broad questions. Open Houses are more informal Q&A sessions, whereas Information Sessions will include a formal presentation.

1:1 Meetings with Admissions Staff & Faculty

Questions about your application? Curious about the programs? Not sure where to start? Schedule a meeting with one of our exceptional Associate Directors of Graduate Admissions, Ryan Johnson or Raven Malliett. You are also invited to meet with our Associate Deans for Graduate Programs, Brendan Boyle and David Carl, who are faculty members overseeing the Graduate Institute for their respective campus.

Ryan and Brendan are based in  Annapolis and have meetings in Eastern Time. Raven and David are based in Santa Fe and have availability in Mountain Time.
