Meet with Avery Lin

Important Facts
Favorite Book at St. John’s: Fear and Trembling by Søren Kierkegaard
Favorite Spot on Santa Fe Campus: Any classroom in Santa Fe Hall. You never know what kinds of diagrams and equations you are going to see on the blackboards. One of the joys of the St. John’s journey is learning to recognize each glyph by name over time. By the time you are a senior, walking through Santa Fe Hall is like visiting a museum you’ve been to a hundred times: “That’s Book 10 of Euclid!” “That’s part of the Odyssey in Ancient Greek!” “Those are Einstein's relativity transformations!”
Favorite Spot on Annapolis Campus: The Gillium Common Room. It’s a beautiful, naturally lit space where students share homemade meals and stories of Johnnie life. Also check out the communal blackboard where you might see an impressive proof, an articulate Ancient Greek translation, and the occasional chalk-art masterpiece!
Fun Fact: Before returning to work at St. John’s, I worked in the hospital for a year as a CNA.
From: Denver, Colorado
Favorite Food: Sundaeguk, a traditional Korean soup
Plato or Aristotle: Plato
