St. John’s is known for our radical interdisciplinary curriculum with two key elements: great books and classroom discussions. We think our application process should be equally radical. Our new Discussion-Based Application option reflects the emphasis we place on classroom discussion. Instead of completing a written application, you will complete this short form below, send us your transcript and an essay you already wrote for a high school class, and then you spend a day on campus or online interviewing with a faculty member and an admissions counselor, and participating in a seminar. You can apply Early Decision or Early Action as soon as August 1, and you will receive a decision within two weeks of completing all steps. This Discussion-Based Application allows you to get to know St. John’s at the same time we get to know you. Instead of writing dozens of rote college essays, you will have a genuine conversation with us (just like we do in the classroom). Instead of waiting months to receive an admission decision, you can be admitted to St. John’s within just a few weeks.
The following questions on race and ethnicity are optional. This information will not be shared with the Admissions Committee.
Regardless of your answer to the prior question, please indicate how you identify yourself and describe your background (you may select one or more)
