DISCUSSION BASED APPLICATION

Please Note: You should start only one St. John's College application.

If you have started another application in Common App or Coalition, please complete your application there or contact admissions@sjc.edu to remove your previous application.

If you have questions about undergraduate and graduate application types, please contact your personal admissions counselor.

At both the undergraduate and graduate levels, St. John’s is famous for our great books curriculum, discussion-based classes, and interdisciplinary focus. Because we seek diverse students from all backgrounds who will thrive at the college, St. John's does not charge an application fee.

What is my entry term?

Your entry term is the semester that you want to begin classes. Students will typically start in the Fall semester unless you plan to join the January first-year class in the Spring semester on our Santa Fe, New Mexico campus.

When should I apply?

If you are excited by our great books curriculum and cannot wait to become a Johnnie, we encourage you to apply through our binding Early Decision application. Once accepted and you have received your financial aid award letter (if applicable), you will need to cancel your applications to other colleges, and submit your deposit with St. John’s.

Students who prefer a nonbinding application, should select the Early Action application.

Both Early Decision and Early Action applications will be considered for our largest merit scholarships at the point of acceptance.

Students are encouraged to complete all application requirements early this fall. All Discussion-Based applications must be received by the deadlines below, with supplemental information and seminars completed by January 15.

Early Decision (binding) – November 1
Early Action – November 15

Decisions will be released within one month of receiving all required documents, interviews, and seminar participation.

If you have questions or need to change your program or application round, please contact your personal admissions counselor.
